ABOUT
Jessica Simon is a puppeteer, director, and dramaturg who has received an UNIMA Citation of Excellence and support from the Jim Henson Foundation. She was a co-producer of Handmade Puppet Dreams Micro-Commissioned Short Puppet Films. Most recently she directed a portion of Alva Rogers' The Doll Plays at MoMA and a workshop production of Rogers' Harlem Doll Palace, was the lead puppeteer on the short film Lake Minnetrista and an ensemble member developing Dan Hurlin's Bismarck.
She has worked internationally in residence at Nordland Figur Teatret in Norway and her original work has appeared across the US. In New York she has performed at La MaMa, Dixon Place, St. Ann's Warehouse, Puppet Kitchen, Streb Lab, and Puppet Playlist, and regionally at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival, the Puppeteers of America National Festival, and NerdCon: Stories.
As a fabricator she has worked with The Jim Henson Company, Rick Lyon Puppets, Puppet Kitchen, Furry Puppet Studio, and Transformed Puppet. She previously served as co-curator of Nasty, Brutish & Short Puppetry Cabaret at Links Hall, on the Artistic Direction Committee for Puppet Festival (r)Evolution, and made 3 appearances in the National Puppetry Slam.
